Day 2

We started our 2nd day by taking an hour and a half taxi ride to a unique market. The entire market is on train tracks and at 6 points throughout the day, the shop owners move all their merchandise out of the way as the train moves through the market.

We tried coconut milk from freshly sliced coconuts at one of the shops

Th tourists and shoppers moved to the side as the train moved through the station

Our taxi driver negotiated with us to be our driver for the entire day which worked out great. We met him back at the parking lot to go to our next stop: the floating markets. We took an hour and a half boat ride around shops and marketplaces where merchants sold souvenirs, paintings, and sculptures.

For some reason there was also a stall offering to let you hold a massive snake - which we quickly motioned for our driver to move past

We saw a giant monitor lizard about a foot away from the boat when we went through the more rural portions of the tour and I’m pretty sure the boat driver shouted out of fear - definitely wasn’t us

We took the hour taxi ride back to the main city and sped through a Bangkok house museum tour that they let us into the outside portion even though the compound was 5 minutes from closing. It was a perfectly preserved house from early 20th century Bangkok

We walked around the city a little more after that before heading to the hotel

We ended our day by planning and booking our next day on the hotel computers. We decided on a full day tour in Chiangmai where you take a bamboo raft ride through a river and interact with elephants - feeding them, washing them in the river, and going into waterfalls with them. This meant going to sleep at 9, waking up at 2:15 to catch a 5:10 flight to Chiangmai an hour away, and then catching a taxi to meet the tour group leaving from the city at 8:30. We ordered food from chabad through WhatsApp, including food for next day lunch for day 2 dinner. Day 3 is gonna be great.
