Week 25

We went right back to work after Sidrat Chinuch. On Sunday night we had a Bachmas (obstacle course). I passed all the obstacles on the first try (Finally!) and passed in 8:50.

Monday we went out to the shetach. Our training runs on a Google sheet. There are requirements to our training, drills that we have to get through to have our training be considered complete. This was a day of filling in drills we needed to do before our Shavua Milchama. We opened up a fake wooden house as a chulia and as a kita during the day and again at night.

On Tuesday, even though I told my מ”מ he could cancel the request, I met with the Kaban (the therapist). Id already worked through my anxieties about quitting from two weeks before, but it was nice to have a 45 minute conversation (in English) with a therapist who knows how hard the army can be.

We spent the day at the shooting range and ran a new drill, my favorite so far. It was a competition between 3 groups. Targets were set up on the 200 meter line. One person from each group brought a gun to the 50 meter line with one bullet in the magazine. When the drill started, they would shoot and if they hit the target, would get one point for the group. They’d then put the gun down on the 50 meter line and sprint back with the now empty magazine to the 0 meter line where we were waiting with a bullet in our hand. When they handed off the magazine to us, we’d load the bullet into the magazine, load the magazine into the gun at the 50 meter and try to hit the target. The first group to 10 points won. It was a shooting relay race that my group won. Incredibly fun.

On Wednesday we spent more time at the mitvachim and later on in the day had a class on all wars of Israel   it’s a requirement for all soldiers to learn about them at some point in our training. We learned about what 202 did specifically in each war as well.

Thursday felt like a day of passing time. We had a Bochen Kashag ( a strength test) and 3k vest run. We did Naknash(gun cleaning) for an hour and a half and donated blood. A slow end to a quick week before going home for shabbat.

On Friday I met up with a friend from the Upper West and finally got to meet Lioras boyfriend.

I met up with Asher for lunch in Herzliya. After months of arguing with the army and trying to turn his bad fortune leaving kravi into something positive, he decided it’s best to go back to the UK. Happy I got to see him before he goes.

I spent shabbat by my old apartment in Herzliya and Motzash went to see Hamnet back in Jerusalem. It’d be weird not going to the theater once on a shabbat out no? Overall a relatively easy week. We also had a Yom siddurim the next day so there was none of the post motzei shabbat pressure of knowing you’re going back the next day.

It feels like we’re at the end. The weeks are getting easier before the insanity of Shavua milchama. We’re filling in gaps in our training. It’s weird; because we’re so close to the end everything feels like it’s much longer. We’re at the end! Why can’t we just be there already?
