Film review
The Virgin Suicides (1999)
★★★★½
PHENOMENAL. Wow. A really really well made movie. Sofia Coppola has got the touch. Somehow moody, pensive, and penetrating, while also being happy and feel good. She knew the look and feel that the film needed to have and she Nailed it.
Loved the originality of the story and the "special sequences": the montages of the girls, Trip's intro, anything having to do with music.
This one was really special and I want to write so much more but the words are escaping me. I think that's the sign of great art; I don't even know what to think yet. The dissonance of messages and confluence of reverent, somber tones with light, optimistic sequences was somehow simultaneously jarring and comforting and it will take me some time to chew on it. This is a masterpiece
