Stand by Me (1986)

Simple story but boy what a screenplay and acting. There's something about these rural towns and a group of friends which hits something so emotionally central. This movie packed a greater emotional punch than I ever expected it would. Also yeah, River Phoenix could act. The whole time, I was thinking of his untimely death and comparing it to Gordie and his older brother and Joauquin.
