Film review
Paprika (2006)
★★★★½
One of the most wildly inventive, absolutely bonkers movies I’ve ever seen. Japanese cinema will never cease to amaze me
The confluence of the seemingly disparate plots was fascinating; tracking down the dream terrorist, the “unfinished business” therapy, etc.
The “hidden gem” of Paprika is the love for cinema that comes through. The explanations of the form and, my interpretation of the ending, that films are where we live out our dreams and, even as an adult, you can keep on dreaming.
P.s. I don’t get why ppl think Inception ripped off paprika. Besides for the concept a machine to go into dreams, Paprika was entirely different - I dare say even more complex
