Film review

Nosferatu (2024)

★★★★

The work of a master.
My sister asked me once why one movie is better than any other movie. Aside from the obvious high vs low art, she was curious how its possible, for movies that are obviously good, to discern the quality of a piece of art and judge comparatively.
I thought of that question a lot during this movie and I think I've found my answer: it's that everything is exactly as it should be. Everything serves the story. There isnt a line of dialogue out of place. There isnt a production element that doesnt feel right. The cinematography adds to the story and doesnt feel forced. The acting is top notch. Every single scene feels absolutely necessary, and more so, feels as though it was shot as perfectly as it could be.
Robert Eggers is clearly a master. It was hard for me to feel scared during this because I just enjoyed basking in his artistry and the world he created.
