Midnight Run (1988)

It was a fun time but I honestly don't understand how it's in the top four favorites of so many of those celebrities/filmmakers doing the letterboxed four. It's a fun buddy, road moviez but, aside from the ex wife portion, it doesn't probe too deep or deal with themes outside of the central action. Script was great and De Niro was obviously gripping. I've heard that "we haven't come close to something that accomplished what this does except for maybe nice guys" but I honestly think nice guys tackles the whole "two partners who aren't so compatible learning to work together" much better
