Little Women (2019)

★★★★★

A perfect, perfect miracle of a movie. A masterpiece. I'll rewatch this for years, if only to live in the world that Greta crafted.

The world, the Americanness of it all, really affected me this watch. Serving in a foreign army, thousands of miles away from the country I grew up in, I feel the distance from my culture and history. I never had the white picket fence house, or lived in an upstate town with autumns like that. But I still felt a kinship with it. That was/is America and I felt a longing for it. Greta made it look so dreamy, so desirable, that I felt a sort of loneliness and lacking in that I was now so far away from that reality.

The movie is perfect in every other aspect. The script, editing, cutting across timelines, directing, score, everything. And it all comes together to craft a world so vivid and so lived in.

Movies are magic. I can't wait to watch this again.
