Kurosawa is the absolute master. Character blocking and camera movements/framing really stood out here. Really engaging screenplay. I'm sure this movie invented a few tricks and it's so easy to see how he was well ahead of his time and influenced the great filmmakers.

It pairs well with 12 angry men (nearly the first hour is in one room) and maybe memories of murder.. I think detective/investigation movies may be the ultimate story for the screen.
