Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

★★★★

Overall i didnt fully connect with the movie in the first 3/4. This may have been because I watched it intermittently but now I believe its because the story is being woven. The last few minutes of the movie reveal in earnest the confused, free spirited character that Holly is. The beginning of the movie is sporadic and all over the place, with new characters and plot lines being introduced becasue thats just how Holly lived her life: no sense of stability. The end, and her decision to keep the symbol of her unnattached philosophy in the form of the cat, is the perfect ending to round out her characcter and show how shes matured. And Im a huge fan of the old holywood where the audience was assumed to have some intelligence and not everything had to be explained. The ending requires no dialogue or stupid voice over narration to explain whats happening. Holly's actions speak the words. Nice feel good movie, especially for someone with an anemoic sense of the 60s-90s especially in New York
